Speedway came to Romford quite late in the day and arrived at the Brooklands Stadium in 1969. That first meeting was held on 29th May of that year and was a successful first encounter since the home side defeated Crewe 45-33.

SP Dallison.JPG (24606 bytes) Romford hosted greyhound racing on 20th September 1930. The principal race was the Romford Essex Vase over 575 metres. Dolores Rocket was one of the great greyhounds to win the event with a success in 1971.
