Mick The Miller
A parish priest, Father Martin Brophy, introduced Mick The Miller to the White City in 1929. After his initial trial he was put up for auction and fetched 800 guineas.
Although 4/7 for the final, he was actually beaten by Palatinus, but a no-race was declared.
However, there was no mistake in the re-run which he won by 3 lengths, beating Palatinus in a time of 29.96.
In 1929 Mick earned £700, but he was to repeat the feat in 1930 winning £1480. He beat Bradshaw Fold with ease in a time of 30.24.
