MANSFIELD RACECOURSE
Situated on the Benalla Road in Mansfield in the State of Victoria is Mansfield Racecourse. The area is famous as the place where Ned Kelly and his gang ambushed troopers in 1878.
The records indicate that racing first took place at Flannery's Paddock in 1872 with the feature race being the Mansfield Handicap.

The course then moved to Butcher's Flat on the Merrijig Road before transferring to its present location in 1930. Racing is administered by the Mansfield Jockey Club. By 1965 the club merged with Maindample and became Mansfield and District Racing Club.
Currently the club holds 2 meetings a year with the principal race being the Mansfield Cup, which takes place in November. In the 2008 renewal on 4th November the winner was Testatiga ridden by Kane Harris.
