HORSHAM RACECOURSE
The Horsham Racecourse is situated about 185 miles West of Melbourne off the Western Highway.
Whilst it is known that racing took place in the Horsham area as early as 1850, the principal race, the Horsham Cup run over 2500 metres, was first contested in 1861.

The Horsham & District Racing Club administered the meetings for the first century but by 1960 interest was falling and measures had to be taken for the course to survive. This led to a merger of racing clubs in 1965 when on 30th July the Horsham Club merged with the Horsham St Patricks Race Club, the Rosebrook Racing Club and the Brim Springs Race Club.
