HANGING ROCK RACECOURSE
Located off the Calder Highway, Hanging Rock Racecourse is some 50 miles North West of Melbourne in Victoria State.
Although sporting events were held in the Hanging Rock Reserve since the 1860s, it was not until 1885 that the Hanging Rock Racing Club was formed in the August of that year.

Throughout the next 5 months work was done to organise its first race meeting, and this took place on New Years Day 1886. The card included the principal race, the Hanging Rock Cup, although this had been contested as early as 1880.
The course went from strength to strength and was redeveloped in 1911.
