SP Case.JPG (5768 bytes) Speedway has taken place at two venues in Buxton, Buxton Stadium and Buxton raceway, since 1994. The first meeting was held at the Stadium on the Leek road on 28th August 1994 and was to result in a 39 all draw with near neighbours Stoke Potters. They joined Stoke and others, including Linlithgow, in the newly formed British League Division 3. The venue was to only witness one more year of racing, with the final meeting taking place on 21st October 1995, albeit a successful one when they were victorious against Sittingbourne by 62-34. The team were Knockout Cup winners in 2002. The team returned to action at the Buxton Raceway circuit on 19th May 1996 and were, once again, successful in beating Mildenhall by 47-31. Under the guidance of Ken Moss they went from strength to strength and remain a force, including competing in the Conference Shield. The club were known as the Hi-Edge Hitmen originally, but this was later shortened to the Hitmen in 1996. They were treble winners in 2010.
