BAIRNSDALE RACECOURSE |
|
| Situated on Racecourse Road in Bairnsdale in
the State of Victoria, the Bairnsdale Racecourse can boast a history dating back to 1862.
Its inaugural meeting was held in February 1862 and it has enjoyed strong local support
ever since. |
| |
By 1964 it had grown even stronger when the Bairnsdale
Racing Club merged with local Lindenow and together they launched a newly positioned
racecourse. The new course opened in November 1976 and Premier Rupert Hamer was there to
officiate. |
|
| Also holding one meeting a year at the
racecourse is Bairnsdale Hibernian Racing Club. |
| |
One of its feature races is the Lindenow Cup held around
Easter. |
