ARMADALE GREYHOUND STADIUM

This site is not an official website for the track shown here and is neither approved or endorsed by the stadium. I am indebted to Richard English for helping to construct this page.

Armadale Stadium is based at Armadale, near Edinburgh in West Lothian in Scotland and first held a meeting at Bathgate on 20th February 1939, with the track situated at 3° 40' W 55° 53' N. Prior to that first meeting the towns greyhound track was based at Volunteer Grounds. That track was originally around the local football pitch until it moved to a more permanent home. The Bathgate track runs sprints over 330 yards and standard races over 540 yards and still maintains a strong local following.

The current stadium also is the home of speedway and has shared its ground with the Edinburgh Monarchs Speedway team since 1997. The principal races are the West Lothian Stakes and the Armadale Sprint Championships.

This section gives a comprehensive picture of the badges produced by the track throughout the ages, but only provides the briefest of glimpses of its history. For those wishing to undertake further research we can recommend a visit to
