WORKINGTON GREYHOUND STADIUM

The greyhound stadium in the Cumbrian town of Workington was on Lonsdale Park at the West Cumberland Stadium and situated at 3° 32' W 54° 38' N. It opened in the early 1930s and had a circumference of 440 yards. It operated as an independent track, running sprints over 320 yards, Standard races over 530 yards and distance races over 760 yards.

The track organised seasonal principal races with Easter Sweepstakes and Christmas Handicaps. However, the main race at the track was the Workington Derby held each September. It closed for the final time in 1999.
