The racecourse at Northlands Park is situated in the city of Edmonton in the state of Alberta, Canada. It hosts both harness racing and thoroughbred racing, with harness racing taking place from February to June, and the thoroughbred season kicks in from June until October.
Its principal race is the Group III Canadian Derby contested each August over 11 furlongs and first run in 1930, initially being known as the Manitoba Derby when won by Jack Whittier. Its most recent renewal in 2009 saw Pedro Alvarado guide Tommy Danzigger to victory.
