Correspondent Miles Dosher abandoned his home in Burton
on Trent to make for the bright lights of Hong Kong and the chance of riches at Happy
Valley racecourse, a racecourse since 1846. The images he displays on this site show a vibrant racecourse, buzzing with enthusiastic, oriental gamblers eager to make their fortune on the next race, or the one after that, or the .............
The racing season at Happy Valley lasts from September to June and boasts a betting turnover in excess of 91 billion Hong Kong dollars. Meetings take place most Wednesday evenings and often on a Saturday or Sunday. Another course at Shatin hosts racing at the weekends.
