This was run on Wednesday 1st June 1988 and the winner was bred by HH Aga Khan IV and trained by Luca Cumani at Newmarket. There were 14 runners and the winner won by 1 1/2 lengths in a time of 2 mins 33.84 secs, with 1 1/2 lengths between second and third. The winner and third were owned by HH Aga Khan, whilst the second was owned by Mr R.E.Sangster. The first prize was £296,500, (The equivalent of £755,800 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator).
