This was run on Saturday 5th June 1948 and the winner was bred by Monsieur Leon Voltarra and trained by Richard Carver at Chantilly in France. There were 32 runners from an initial entry of 386. The winner won by 1 1/2 lengths with 4 lengths between second and third. The winners time was 2 mins 40 secs. The winner won a first prize of £13,059 5s, (The equivalent of £451,400 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator).
