COUNDON GREYHOUND STADIUM

This site is not an official website for the track shown here and is neither approved or endorsed by the stadium. I am indebted to Richard English for helping to construct this page.

Coundon greyhound stadium was situated on Wharton Street at 1° 38' W 54° 39' N in the town of the same name in County Durham,Northumberland. It was situated alongside the allotments and there is now a pub called The Greyhound in the town. The track stood alongside Belmont and Spennymoor in providing the entertainment for gamblers in the area. Belmont had opened on 13th July 1940, but closed in the early 1960s.
