Caymanas Park racecourse is located on the island of Jamaica in Barbados. The company, Knutsford Park Ltd was formed in 1904 and was the first to promote horse racing in Jamaica. The Barbados Turf Club was founded in 1905 and celebrated its centenary in 2005.
The course currently holds 82 meetings annually, with the vast majority taking place on Wednesdays or Saturdays. Feature races are the 1000 Guineas and 2000 Guineas which, in 2009, were held on 4th April. It also hosts the Jamaican Oaks (25th April), Jamaican Derby (13th June) and the St Leger on 11th July. A Boxing Day fixture traditionally sees the running of the Jamaica 2 Year Old Stakes. In the latest running of the Jamaica Derby He's Really OK was the 9-2 winner when ridden by Paul Francis, managing to defeat the 2000 Guineas winner, Bruceon the loose by a diminishing short head. The winner was trained by Frederick Watson and owned by Patrick Smellie.
