The 128th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Wednesday 29th April 1936 over the Rowley Mile, was Pay Up (11/2), a brown colt by Fairway out of Book Debt, owned by the 2nd Viscount Astor. The winner won by a short head in 1 minute 39.60 secs, with 3 lengths back to the third. A field of 19 runners contested the race which was worth £7500 (Equivalent to £489,800 in 2017)
